Hello, my name is David, and I am a founding trustee for The Family & Community Group, a registered charity, set up to address a need for more activities for children, young people and their families. As a trustee, I have over twenty years of experience, supporting some of the most vulnerable groups within Torfaen, and it’s surrounding communities. Through my experiences, I have gained vocational qualifications in fitness, sport, play, and youth work. I have obtained a first class masters degree, from the University of South Wales. I also hold a BA (HONS) Youth and Community Work Degree.

In my spare time, away from my family and work, I enjoy supporting local community projects and facilities. I have held the title Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. I have over 4 years experience working as a premises manager for local community halls and centres. Through my volunteering I have kept up with my training, and I feel I have made a difference within my community.

I love volunteering, I feel a part of something, learning about others, and working towards common goals can be fun, but also challenging. Some of the voluntary work has included developing an old abandoned allotment into communal gardens, developing tiered community venues, renovating and developing projects from these hubs, I have also supported community events and projects. I have good working knowledge of people, groups, services and third sector organisations within my community, I feel this will help develop this charity, and help identify unmet needs.
